Technical Director job in Glasgow with a rapidly growing digital agency. We need a Technical Director who can oversee the technical team in a busy digital agency in Glasgow and lead the development of technical strategy and delivery. Technical Director is a newly created job role which will involve managing a range of new and ongoing client projects including web development, online and desktop applications and mobile development.
The Technical Director will lead the development of a diverse range of complex digital projects, managing the external and internal teams in the process. The Technical Director is responsible for defining the development strategy for individual client projects, assessing the technical specifications to apply an appropriate technical solution and then working with the account managers to scope project requirements, provide estimates for costs and schedule resources accordingly. You will be expected to take the role of technical lead and oversee the development of the project to ensure it is completed effectively, as well as ensuring that the development tools, processes and methodologies used ensure efficient management of the technical team. Ultimately the Technical Director will be responsible for the output of the technical team to ensure the delivery of robust, quality code according to project briefs. In addition, the Technical Director will be expected to manage staff, including personal development of skills through training and mentoring, conducting appraisals and providing opportunities for career progression.

To be considered for this job you will ideally have a varied technical background with particular experience in web development using both open source and proprietary techologies, development frameworks and methodologies. A thorough undertanding of both front end and back end development and object orientated web programming is required, with experience of various database technologies and applications.
We would expect you to have a strong web development background, probably with at least 2 years experience of leading and managing development teams through complex digital projects. We would also expect you to have a good understanding of social networking, rich internet applications, dynamic web applications and the associated technologies.
